Bruises on my knees/lower legs

So i have a question. For the past few months i have noticed bruises on my legs. Sometimes only one but the week before Christmas it was so bad i had 5 on my one leg and 4 on the other. Most around/ on my knees but on my lower leg too. Doesn't matter if it's the front, inner- or outside.
I now have 2 very small ones on my right knee and 1 very small one on my left knee with a larger one just below that knee.

I went to see my gp when i saw them, that time the week before christmas and she did some blood tests, that was all ok. So nothing wrong there.

So we kind of came to the conclusion that it must be medicine related.

I can understand that i must be pumping in to something sometimes, or it must happen when i sit on my knees. But then again i never hurt myself so the i bruise very quickly. Usually they are very small spots.

I am only on 5 mg of Pred.. And i'm on vit. K too, 10 mg a day, so that must compensate. My labs were ok too so i don't think that could be a problem.

Otherwise i'm not sure what it could be.

So my question really is. Does anyone else have this too? And do you have a feeling what it could be?

I get these bruises often too, I just assume I bump into things like the coffee table a lot because unless I really hit something hard I forget the little bumps. I wouldn't be too concerned about a few bruises unless they happen really easily, or take a real long time to heal. I know the doctors scare us sometimes when they are like oh my god you didn't get the vit k you really need it and that is all you remember later. Then it just makes us paranoid later when things aren't so bad, but always go by your instincts and don't always take their word for it. You can call your CF doctors and ask what they think. I used take vit k while I was in the pediatric clinic but the adult clinic will not give me any but my clotting time is good so I guess I really don't need it for now but I do have periods when I get more bruises then other times. My mother is a nurse, as am I, and it is true that your clotting factor can change from day to day. Even something as simple as diarrhea can affect your clotting time. So the point is if they are little light bruise I wouldn't worry so much but if they are dark and don't go away for a long time call the doctor again or just call the CF doctors office to ask them.

When I was very sick in the hospital last year, I got tons of bruises: arms, legs, feet (!). And I couldn't remember getting them, so the injuries must have been very slight unnoticable bumps. My doctor put me on vitamin K, so I don't know what else to suggest than that. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

You aren't the only one though! Have you noticed you get more bruises when you are sick? Perhaps they are also very slow to heal? Do you have CFRD?

Thank you for your messages.

I do think the bruises happen very easily, as i never notice anything like bumping into something or things like that. I just notice the bruises when i changes clothes or am in the shower..

I don't think it's worse when i feel sick.. I've had a lungtransplant, i have to admit i could do better but actually i've felt really good in comparison (sp?) with how i felt a few months back.

I don't know if i'm slow to heal, i don't really think so.. Sometimes bruises take about 3 weeks to go away, i don't know if that's very long?
The bruises are sometimes very dark, sometimes they are not, sometimes they are only 1 centimeter or less but some are like 5 centimeter wide.

And i don't have diabetes either.

I was supposed to talk to my tx doc yesterday but didn't get to see him.

I will tell him next time i'm there. My gp wasn't concerned and i'm not either. Just curious what it could be.

Thanks again!
