Bubbles the fish max instructions

Just got a couple of bubbles fish masks for DS and actually read the instruction on the package. Says to remove the respiratory (blue) part of the top of the pari neb cup prior to use. Now wouldn't that waste medication? Just curious 'cuz we mainly use the fish mask when he does Tobi, though sometimes we're able to work with him on using the mouth piece and nose plug.

Have we been doing this wrong all the time?

that blue part opens the top when the user inhales then closes - maybe the idea with removing it is that tiny tots can't inhale hard enough to get a good medicine flow and the stuff does not come out enough. My experience is that the blue thing does not really prevent the meds from blowing out the mouthpiece so we've never taken them out....

My ds is 5 and we have always removed it for the Tobi. We just started Pulmozyme a few months ago and they told us to use the the Bubbles mask for it too....when they gave us the pari neb cup...they had already removed the blue part for us.
