hy all have any of you ever had the problem of buying jeans or trousers/pants and cant get the right waist size?
i have had this problem yesterday i went shopping for jueans that i wanted to wear out, and i couldnt find a size 26 waist in the mans department. i had search every where, My best mate then suggested tht i look in the womens section and i found lots of jeans that fit me perrfect, never the less i was embarrassed to buy them and got her to pay for them for me, jut wondering is this a common problem for other cf men, by the way im 23,
thanks

I'm one of the few CF's who thankfully got rid of the super petite body shape in my late teens. If anything I need to trim down my gut. I used to wear size 34 waists for a long time, but it has slowly gotten bigger. I can still squeeze into a 34, but it's way too tight and uncomfortable, so I wear a 36 now. I was never one to seriously do crunches at the gym <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

I don't think this is just a man thing.

Courtney is 13, is 5 foot 3 inches, and only weighs 78 pounds.

It is impossible to find her jeans that fit in the waist but are long enough in the legs! We finally found a store that sells irregular jeans, and those fit her GREAT.

Heh I remember when I was 12 or maybe 13. My biggest goal was to "break 100 lbs". I was always in the 70ish lb range, then I got into the 90ish lb range, but floated there for a while. Then I finally hit 100 lbs! I was extremely happy. If someone back then would have told me that i'd live deep into my 30's, and most notably be 210 lbs, there would have been noway i'd believe them.

Some people with CF it's just how it is (size wise), but for others they start out small like everyone else, and then tack on weight and size and get past that hurdle. Don't know why I was different, I took enzymes like every other CF growing up, and I was "rail thin" also. Who knows. I do recommend weight training for men (even women if they want to tone up and not look so soft as well as lookin very small), so you can help offset the small size thing with a larger muscle build. It's not a perfect solution, and you won't be Arnold Swarzenegger, but you will atleast look more manly...Not to mention be much healthier.

This might sound a bit extravagant, but have you ever considered having clothes made for you? It's not as expensive as you might think, especially if you find the materials yourself and haggle a bit. And then you get exactly what you want.

Short of that, a few alterations can make all the difference. I've even brought bathing suits in. I suspect my tailor thinks I'm a fop, but it's either that or many more trips to the shrink's couch.

I mean this is just an idea, and a kind of wacky one at that, but I was watching this fashion show the other day, and they said that the latest trend in Hollywood, is for men to wear womens jeans. You know, the boycut ones, etc. Apparently women's jeans have a closer fit to the hips, etc. I have a guy friend who wears womens jeans and no one knows the difference. He says they fit him a lot better because he has a tiny frame.

I'm very thin 5'9 130, but my waist is like 31-32 inches. My arms and legs are skinny. Very annoying, but it's not that hard for me to find clothes. That said, I did shop in the boys depart. till I was like 17.

Finally, something I am an expert at! Outfitting Cf boys!

Much to Ry's displeasure, one of the best places I shopped for him was American Eagle. They carry pant sizes down to 26x28, and in shirts/sweaters, they are the only company I know of that makes an XS for men. They only carry the really small jean sizes on the website.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ae.com/web/browse/category_mens.jsp?navroot=mens&rcid=mens
">http://www.ae.com/web/browse/c...avroot=mens&rcid=mens
</a>
Old Navy also carried down to only a 29, but their small shirts usually suffice for CF boys.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/home.do
">http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/home.do
</a>
If you need nice pants, Gap goes down to a 28...26 I've only found at AE, but Ry was 28-30, so I know lots of those.

Also, boy's dept of course.

I can only speak for the ladies but I also have a terrible time
finding clothes that fit properly. I very much have a boys' frame,
I'm very muscular and athletic looking but that doesn't matter when
you have NO hips and NO waist when looking for jeans / pants in the
ladies department. Thank god that hipsters and boy cut pants have
become fashionable, those high waste numbers that were trendy in
the 80s just looked ridiculous on me!<br>
<br>
While I'm getting things off my chest.... looking for bras is just
awful!! I don't have much to offer in the cup size department but
my oh so sexy barrel chest means I have to go up a size so it's
wide enough around my rib cage but then of course, when you go up a
bra size, the cup size is bigger too and that's when bras start to
look ridiculous on me!

littlemissilly, I don't know if you have this for bra sizes in
Australia, but instead of going up a cut sizes why don't you just
get a bigger sizes around the ribs, like I'm smaller around my ribs
so I get a smaller size for it, it is a 32 inch size around my
ribs and then the cup is a C sizes, its a different sizes
then around the rib cage.  Our cup sizes here are A, B, C, D,
etc.. same as the ribs it goes 32 in, 34 in, 36 in, and so
on.  I don't know how your bra sizes work over there,
but I thought all bras were the same all over the world.
 You could probable order a bra from the USA or Canada online
that would fit you exactly how you want it tofit, not to big in the
cup sizes and exactly how you would like it around your ribs.
 I don't mean to offend you if I have I very sorry,
I just thought I would give you some info on getting a better
bra.  I hope I help you out a little! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><br>

Hey Karla,<br>
<br>
Too funny, no offence taken <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><br>
<br>
I probably didn't explain myself properly. Our cup sizes here are
the same, ie A, B, C, D and so on for the lucky ones. In terms of
rib measurements the sizing goes 10 (must be equivalent to your
32in) then 12, 14 and so on, so bra sizes for eg 10A, 10B etc 12A,
12B etc.<br>
<br>
What I probably didn't explain is that I personally always find
that when I go up a size in rib measurements even though I go for
the smallest cup size in that range, ie the A cup, is always bigger
even though it's still an A cup because its assumed that the
broader one is in the ribs, the larger the breasts.... otherwise it
would be normal to be barrel chested like me!! I thought about
having a one custom made but I think it's too expensive. Hope this
explains my 'issues' a bit better.<br>
<br>
PS Sorry gentlemen for digressing to bras in this thread <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><br>

I also apologize to the guys. Nothing like taking over the topic, BUT another thought which I dont know if they have in Australia is the little elastic add ons with the hooks that actually gives more room around the ribcage, but doesnt affect the cup size. You could then wear the bras that fit your cup size, but have the room you need around the rib cage. I have actually seen them advertised for the "bigger" woman, but it actually is an ideal solution for us CFers. If you dont know what I am referring to I will find a link or picture. Its just a piece of elastic with the hooks like what is already on your bra, but the bra itself hooks to each side of the piece giving more room!

dont be embarassed to buy womens jeans. heaps of guys do this! like liz said they are just more fitted.

lb, i know what you mean about the bras. 12a = 10b 12b = 10c and so on. i have that problem but on the opposite end of the scale. the elastic hook thing sounds like a good idea. or try to find brands where the band runs large. maybe try finelines, berlei or joanne?
