Hi all! We're in a possition of having a baby born 12 weeks early resulting in chronic lung disease along side his C.F! We have spoken to his C.F doc & she said (understandably) that the combination of the 2 conditions is not a good one! We have no idea what severity the C.F is & have been told that his C.L.D is quite bad. We're still researching what the C.F will bring but can find little reference to C.F & C.L.D side by side! If anyone has had any experiance with the 2 conditions in the same child we would really appreciate any info u could give us! Smile

Thanks for any imput! x x

Hi! Hope your little guy is doing well. My daughter was born full term, but also had MI. The only advice I can offer is to keep him as safe as you can for the first couple of years. He will be getting rsv shots every month during the winter. That will help. Just try to keep him away from anyone who is sick. Hand sanitizer will become your new best friend. If you can try to keep him from getting sick, it will give him time to develop his lungs and build up his immune system.

But remember, there is only so much that is in your power. So if he does get sick it's not your fault. Just try to follow the doctors guidlines and you'll manage. If you ever need to talk, don't hesitate to send me a message.

will the chronic lung disease go away as he matures? will he grow out of that or is that always going to be an issue as he gets bigger?

Thanks for the replies! Although technically his C.L.D will not get better is will lessen. The areas of C.L.D will remain the same size while his lungs will grow which will make the areas appear smaller. As with c.f there is no way of telling just how the C.L.D will affect him, although we do know he will have decreased lung function (to a greater or lesser degree. Any accounts of people dealing with both conditions would still be greatly appreciated as we still have next to no info on what we're asking x x x x
