Good news on the cancer. Stage 1 but might end up with a nasty surgery and colostomy bag. Thankfully Duke has a 2 year wait post cancer and not longer. Glad I started the evaluation when on the healthy side of things.

Wow! That's a lot to deal with. You, of course, are handling it with grace and dignity. No small task considering what an undignified cancer it is.

I will be praying for you. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Steph, It is hard to imagine the roller coaster ride of this cancer diagnosis along with a lung transplant evaluation. I am so glad it is Stage 1 and it seems with your great attitude and care team, you will do better than can even be imagined! Thoughts and prayers for this journey! Jeanne

I think you are handling this remarkably well. Very healthy attitude. It sounds like this could all work out well for you. Cancer getting erradicated (most likely) and Duke taking patients after 2 years of being cancer free. Good luck to you, Steph.

I wish my center had told me about colon cancer screening prior to a transplant while I was still healthy enough to do it. Now my lungs can't handle the twilight drugs. The center is taking me anyway (last colonoscopy was 6.5 years ago) but now I wonder about possible cancer or pre-cancerous polyps that could have been taken care of earlier. My fault too for not getting another colonoscopy at the recommended 5 year mark. Everything is probably okay, but...

I just found out during a recent pelvic exam that I also have a mass attached to my tailbone that they have yet to let me know if it is malignant or benign but is the size of a man's fist. Monday i have a colonoscopy and endorectal ultrasound and a biopsy will be taken then. They said the tumor has to be taken out but they have to determine how much is attached to my rectum and if I will have to have a colostomy or if it can be removed without doing that. Either way, the tumor has to be removed because it is growing and will interfere with my internal organs. Is there a connection between CF and rectal cancer?
