Can a baby develop pancreatic insufficiency?

That's how both my sister & myself were diagnosed in the first place (pancreatic insufficiency). We both just had a heck of a time digesting anything, so no, it's not uncommon.
If your infant is not currently taking enzymes & she starts them soon, that should make a world of difference.
Keep us posted on what you hear.

DS has always had loose stools, always been pancreatic insufficient. I was always trying to figure out what normal stools were supposed to look like so we'd know if he was getting enough enzymes. He was formula fed -- the week he was on pregestimil -- green grass poo. When we switched him to infamil lipil -- they were more orangy, but what I noticed the most was that they smelled kinda like feta cheese -- sorry if TMI.

A couple of times when they increased his zantac, they were orangish -- kinda thick and stick like you described and smelled almost metallic. I always thought it was the zantac, but could be too he had a bit of a a stomach bug. Only happened a couple of times.

Think that drove me nuts is I'd always ask the nurses and doctors, what the heck is NORMAL poop supposed to look like. The green grass one didn't look like any poop I'd ever seen. A nurse at the local hospital told me his ploppy, loose yellowish green poops were "normal CF poop". I just kept getting told I would know.

Hopefully it's nothing. Could it have been something you ate. Last month my cousin ate cabbage soup and her daughter, who she bf was kinda off.

We are fortunate because her two mutations are known to produce
pancreatic sufficient and "mild" CF symptoms. But I keep
going back to what I've read on here and heard at the clinic...CF
affects every person differently.

Clinic says that she is in the 10th percentile for weight and
height and I have emailed the pictures per their request.

Truthfully, I'm probably overreacting, but I would rather be safe
than sorry.

Will keep everyone posted when we find out more.
Best to keep on top of things. There's no such thing as a silly question. Are they concerned at all with her being in the 10th percentile? L

A little bit, but she comes from a very tall family. No one is
really tall and thin, but they think that with me bfing, she may
gain weight a little more slowly than a formula fed baby. I just
don't see how she can be in the 10th percentile for weight...she
eats all of the time and eats for 15-20 minutes each side. I only
occasionally have to wake her up now that we are in a groove.

Now, if I can just get my toddler to stay in bed to take a nap,
I'll be doing great!
The stool description plus your comment about her eating all the time and being only in the 10th percentile are classic pancreatic insufficient symptoms.

The clinic said if they aren't "VERY FREQUENT" then we
don't need to stress about it until she has her next appointment at
the end of the month.

What is "VERY FREQUENT"?

She hasn't had a messy diaper today. I would call that
infrequent.

So much of this is subjective. What's greasy and smelly to me might
not be clinical greasy and smelly. I need a poop lesson.
