Hi

saveferris2009

mentioned that she/he(?) used a countertop dishwasher just for nebs that reached over 106 degrees. I would love to get something like that if I could be assured that it worked as well as boiling. Does anyone know what questions I would have to ask to know if this would be comparable to boiling.

Like how hot does something have to be and for how long in order to sterilize?

it's 160 degrees (I have to go back and check to makes sure I didn't give you a type-o on the other thread).

let me go find the CFF recommendations for sterilizing. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.cff.org/LivingWithCF/StayingHealthy/Germs/StoppingTheSpread/
">http://www.cff.org/LivingWithC...ms/StoppingTheSpread/
</a>
so it's 158 degrees for 30 minutes according to the CFF. Just make sure the dishwasher you chose gets over that temp ad you're SET!

Saveferris,

I was wondering what you think of the baby bottle sterilizer. I switched to this about 5 months ago. I put in the microwave for 15 minutes -- it certainly is easy enough to get a thermometer(which I haven't done). And some centeres are recommending it. Steaming is supposed to be as good or better than boiling, yes? no? I like it because I don't get the calcium deposit buildup that boiling gives me (I have really hard water.)

I know you are pretty diligent with your research; I can't find anything on this. I chose the 15 minute number, since you only need 5 minutes of a boil -- I just try to make extra sure it's sterile.

Thoughts?
