can anyone dumb this down for me....

Thanks, Piper.

So, that being said, for someone who likes the idea of being able to go out and purchase private insurance (not through work), neither candidate is helpful, correct? So, basically, I need to vote based on other issues since the "pre existing" idea of Obama's is not necessarily going to help CFers who want access to the same insurance a non-CFer would get? So, neither of these candidates is saying what I'd like to hear them say, correct? LOL

When you're employed, an employer with more than 15 employees (according to the podcast with jerry and beth sufian) MUST cover their employees no matter what pre existing conditions we have. So, the employer/employee issue is already a mute point, IMO. They already MUST cover pre existing conditions.

I guess I was just hoping Obama was saying he'd step in (somehow) and make insurance companies offer us CFers a private plan that is comparable in price and flexibility as our non-CF counterparts. Sounds like that's not the case here though, eh?

One more thing to consider is, regardless of the details of any plan that either candidate has, they would still have to work out those details and get that plan passed once they become president.... based on many many years of history.... something tells me that you will not see either plan come to fruition no matter how well they explain what they "want" it to look like now... if by some miracle they did manage to get something passed, chances are it not be the same bill that they had in mind when it was "promised" to us all.

Doesn't help answer your question I know I guess I'm just getting a little tired of listening to all the campaign promises each year that go absolutely nowhere. My guess would be that no matter who gets in, nothing will change.

I remember way back when (maybe Clinton or the first term of Bush?) they mentioned pre existing conditions would be covered too... I dont' think it was a presidential election, but I think it was a house/senate vote and it was shot down. So, I guess I'm with you... it would be awfully hard for anything like this to get passed. We can be optimistic, but that was like 8-10 years ago and if big insurance is against something, its unlikely to move forward (is that due to lobbyists and special interests?) Hmmmm.... now I'm wondering if the bigger issue is to get rid of the special interest groups FIRST before we can fix anything. Good grief. More to think about.
