can anyone help me not to feel so tired

I am feeling fine with my lungs. My doc said that they were clear. My allergies are making me cough. I can sleep pretty easily at nights. My propblem is I am tired all the time. But my lung functions are 39%. I could be tired due to the lack of oxygen.
I could be tired due to the daylight savings time as well. But I was feeling so tired before that.
I take good care of myself and try not to over extend myself.
Who else feels tired all the time? any advice on how not to feel so tired.?
Going to take a nap. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hi there

I wanted to throw several things out there.

One is like you mentioned lack of O2. As that can make you very tired and can also make you feel like you just haven't gotten enough sleep when you wake up in the morning.

Also another biggie is your blood sugar. When you blood sugar runs high meaning over 200-300 or even higher you can become extremely fatigued. Before I was diagnosed with CFRD at 17 I was tired all the time. I was sleeping about 16 hours a day - I was going to school and eating and the rest of time involved me sleeping pretty much either that or I was tired and wanted to sleep but couldn't. High blood sugar would most likely be accompanied by other symptoms such as:

frequent urination
always thirsty/increased fluid intake
nausea - especially after eating
blurry vision
headaches
heart palpitations
shortness of breath
weight loss

If you have any of those other symptoms - or if you look up anything on diabetes and see what symptoms can occur with high blood sugar and you have more than a few - I would call the doc and ask to get bloodwork done. If it is your blood sugar it will most likely just get worse without treatment and over time. It is best to rule it out or to determine if that is the problem before to much time passes.

I hope you start feeling better. Hopefully too it is just the allergies getting the best of you. I will also say that yesterday I was extremely tired for no obvious reason - though I think mine is a result of having gotten my flu shot on Monday.

Hope you feel better,
Lindsey

Hi,

I'm sorry that I can't really relate since I'm not on O2 or diabetic, but may I suggest you try Airborne. It may help with feeling so tired all the time. I never need a nap unless it's my time of the month. I used to need a nap everyday for about an 1-2 during that time but the past two cycles I took Airborne twice a day and I didn't need naps.

You may still need naps with the use of Airborne, but it might help???

Your body uses the same amount of force and energy to fight allergens as it does a virus or bacteria.

If you're stuffering from allergies, this is probably why you're tired.

1. Get an anti-histamine like Allergra (Claritin is weak and Zyrtec will reduce your reaction time behind the wheel)

2. Find out what you're allergic to via allergy skin testing (not blood test for IgE)

3. Get a HEPA air purifier. Put one in your bedroom and one in your living room/location where you do your daily CF meds

4. Put allergy encasings on your matress and bed pillows

Hope you feel better soon!

lack of oxygen makes you tired also. Are you using 02 at all? I recently started using it when I sleep at night. the doc said it would help me feel better. It does seem to work. Have your doc do a overnight O2 sat test.
