You can, and we have. The only issue we had it is tended to clog up the screen a bit so you have to make sure to rinse it really well afterwards.

And yes, we just used the normal HTS vial.

I use Hts, tobi, cayston and pulmozyme in the eflow and I think they say not to, but if you keep it clean it should be fine.

Thanks for the advice. I figured it was ok (I've seen that you can order the Rx for HTS through the eFlow pharmacy). Plus, I don't think it can hurt if you get ultra-concentrated HTS - in fact, it's probably better <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I don't see any reason why one could not use HTS in an Altera. Since is not an antibiotic or drug per se I don't think any slight difference in the rate would make a difference unless it is causing you some discomfort. You would not want to share a head between Cayston and HTS since HTS will tend to clog up the pores overtime and the Cayson would not neb anymore at the correct rate; however, instead of disposing of your old Cayson altera heads, why not use them for HTS, this will save your Trio heads from getting clogged. After all it easier to get altera replacements compared to trio.

I don't believe the rate is all that important for Pulmozyme either in this case since you know it getting to a small droplet size in either case. It is not like you are using a Pari Trek or something that can't get it into a small enough dropplet size. Pulmozyme also tends to clog things up. Tobi on the other had, I guess best to stick to the Trio since its an anitbiotic.

All that said, I have given up on using my eflow for HTS and Pulmo as I got sick of the neb times getting slower over time. I got a Invacare Mobilieaire 50psi compressor and use the pari LC plus. The neb times are super fast and I can have many LC plus nebs on hand and don't have worry about them plugging up. Plus they are much cheaper to replace.

That's a great idea, actually. Using the old Altera heads for HTS instead of throwing them out. You'd just need to be sure you keep the heads separate so you know which are the old ones and which are the new ones.
