hey hon,
everyone is so different when it comes to pregnancy safety, how long it takes to get pregnant, etc. its really very much a case by case situation. i am on my 2nd pregnancy and its very different from my first.
i read your post regarding transplants too in the adults section. if you are considering it, or feel that you need it, this is not the best time to be thinking of pregnancy.
with your pfts in the 50s, its really not the safest # range to be in to have a healthy pregnancy. and I would never reccomend going into pregnancy without discussing it thoroughly and planning it with your docs.
i know how depressing it is to see others having kids when you want them so much. i once was told i'd never be healthy enough to be pregnant. of course everyone in my family and friends having babies-it is so hard. fortunately that changed, and my health improved after i really took charge of it and worked hard, and found a wonderful doc that i trusted.
its not about being pregnant and giving birth-its about being a mommmy for life! <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">
my advice (from experience )would be to not give up on your dream of having children. if you're not already, start working your butt off to be healthy and stay healthy. then meet with your cf docs and have an open discussion about pregnancy and your hopes for the future. if they say you're not healthy enough then ask about what you need to do get there, and then work on doing it.
plus, remember that you are still young so you have some time on your side. there are some great new treatments coming out for us. if it takes you a little while to be a mom its ok!
