Can this be it?

I do agree with Jazzysmom that it *looks* like CF. I would wait first and confirm the sweat test. If it answers the question then you can avoid or delay a genetic test.

If the test is borderline or negative and they can't give you another reason for the symptoms then I would try to push for the genetic test. The most exhaustive is done by Ambry in California and you can google them (or they are a sponsor on the families forum here). But it is expensive unless you have private insurance.

Hmmm.... not so sure about Canada not doing genetic testing if no family history.... that just doesn't sound right to me... I know we have Canadians on the list here... anybody?

Since both parents need to be a carrier of a CF gene, each parent does not have CF and no CF symptoms... no family history just means that these two parents have not created a child yet that has both genes.

I know your system will be different than the US system to work with, but I still think you have a good shot at getting a genetic test run if necessary - but do wait for the sweat test and see what happens.... same advice as others... get the number, not just "positive or negative" as my daughter is "normal" and my son is just 1 point into "borderline" but after genetic testing we found 2 CF genes in each of them.

Best of luck and please keep us posted.

Did you tell us when the sweat test is scheduled for? or maybe you don't know yet because of the waiting list?

no sweat test done yet...going to the doctors office this afternoon because Zoe is sick again...she has alot of mucus, a productive cough and she is out of breath just from drinking out of her sippy cup. they will probably want to hospitalize here again for bronchiolitis (her 5th time)Inhalators are doing nothing for her.

I'm not sure I can take any of this anymore...
