Katie, we had similar issues with DS, his as a baby were very similar to what you describe with Ellie, but every time we upped his enzymes we dealt with constipation issues. When he turned 5 he started slipping in terms of weight, so his doctor switched his enzymes from MT4s to MT10s and that seemed to help.

Liza - the only time we saw formed stools with my daughter was when we went from one MT4 to four MT4s (her previous doctor and dietician were underdosing her for who knows why - we no longer go to their center). She became constipated upon upping the dose and I had to give her an enema. Her stools went back to what is normal for her after that time. Have your son's stools become formed? Have you tried other enzymes as well?

When we switched from MT 4s to MT 10s there was improvement, but still some weird colors, still not as well formed, but better than before.

DS' situation was a little unique in that the reason he wasn't gaining weight was because he had surgical adhesions from his surgery as a newborn due to meconium illeus. The surgeon last summer said he looked like a child who'd never had enzymes because the adhesions slowed down his digestive process so much, his enzymes didn't get to where they were supposed to be. We also had him on 5 MT 10s.

After he got things resolved last summer we bumped up his enzymes to 7 MT10s and he's been having normal brown, well formed stools. "Sinkers not Stinkers (floaters)".

He has been on Pancreacarb 4s and 8s which worked well for him, too. Unfortunately, the FDA hasn't approved the new packaging yet.

This is a chart that we use in the UK when describing poop. Both my kids suffered from compacted bowels, rather than constipation. Our CFer uses movicol to help move things along, he dosn't take enzymes, so it may well be different with him.

I would've LOVED to have poop pictures when DS was a baby. Actually I have a couple that "appeared" on my digital camera that DS thought were interesting. Bleah!

Well my daughter was strictly breast fed, and she always had what I thought was breastfed poop. I mean they seemed a little less "seedy" then I thought they should have been but no biggie. And when she started eating food they were still very breastfed like. She was breastfed until 2 so they have always been runny/breastfedish I guess until 2 when I weaned her. Its just now started where they aren't runny but seem to be more constipation. I mean really - but yesterday with the green poop it seems less formed...

runny and shiny poop is what we were told to watch for.. as far as "shooting poop" nmaddy did that till she got put on enzymes..they tols me her poop was like a breask feed babys poo so i went with the till her peds testing came back and they sent us for a sweat test, my dietiatian came in and started asking questions ..mINLY POOP AND HOW MUCH SHE ATE...she asked that if she had a dirty diaper to show her so it happened and i did there was "water" sitting on top of the poop.. but since were on enzymes were great now!!! We actually went to get her shots to day and they said that she needed to go on a diet..lol i called clinic and they laughed , and said we like our fattys lol i guess the best way to describe it is soft serve TMI sorry ..but i hope it helps
