Can you just go up and buy Ataluren (PTC 124)

This is more funny to me than anything. But can you just go and buy Ataluren because I found this in a google search. I wouldnt buy it myself. But I just saw it and was wondering.

I am on the drug now...or maybe on the placebo. Seems like a lot of money for a gram of product. I wonder who would order it?

How wierd. Did you happen to notice the very last thing under the phone numbers? It says: Products are for research use only. Not for human use. We do not sell to patients.

Still, how wierd. I am really curious what country this is coming from. I know it says it's Houston company but I think it's gotta come from somewhere else.

This is soooo bizzare. What I think you stumbled on, though, is not a retail purchasing for the med, but rather a supplier to the research labs that run medical trials etc.

You can find chemical suppliers in China who will sell just about anything... from arsenic to morphine, ciproflaxacin to ataluren... there are some risks involved, but I think these chinese entrepeneurs are providing a great service.
