Can you top this? Doctor's note for water

And if you can your world is crazier than mine. I had to call
Josh's pediatrician today to get a doctor's note for bottled water.
From start of school in late August to October 15th the kids at
Josh's school can bring bottled water. I never knew there was a
bottled water cutoff. When I dropped his lunch off the other day I
asked his homeroom teacher (as she was in the main office) to give
him the bottle of water. I was than informed of the
"rule". As it is no longer hot (school has no AC) the
kids don't need to drink all day and can use the water fountain<img

note. He attends a small catholic school (one classroom of each
grade level through grade 8). When I think of him using that
"germmy" water fountain I cringed and than laugh at how
complex we can make life. HIs doctor said she will dutifully write
and fax his water note today.<img src=

The only thing that comes close to this is the $50 I paid for a
brief one paragraph note from his psychiatrist addressing ADHD and
accommodations. Did that today also.

Amazing.....that brings up the whole thing w/ enzymes, some schools
let kids put them in their lunch box, or carry them, but not my
son's school, not even the are the high schoolers aloud.
Making them go to the nurses office and after they wait for
her to give them their pills, they are taking away valuable eating
time.

Here in Scotland, schoolpupils are allowed their bottled water all year round, and lets face it we get maybe 4 weeks of reasonably 'hot' weather, its been this way for the past 3 years.

When I think back about all the gross things I did when I was a kid, I am absolutely amazed that I didn't get sick more often (in fact, I was sick less than everyone else, go figure). I always drank from the water fountains.

Anyway, I'm not sure why they wouldn't let water in class. You would think that could be an issue for any kid as they don't always remember to drink water from the fountain during lunch. What a silly rule!

EDIT: Just thought of something I find weird. I have to provide a general practitioner's referral to my CF doc every 6 months (although I can get an "indefinite" referral that they will take for one year). HELLO, MY CF ISN'T GOING TO DISAPPEAR. What's even weirder was when I moved states, my CF doc gave me a referral to the new CF doc - and that referral only lasted 3 months. Whaaaaaaat?

DS's daycare provider asked us to have the doctor provide a letter regarding high calorie, high sodium snacks. When the licensing agency comes in to inspect the center, she needed documentation as to why they had pretzels, chips, ice cream, cream.... Apparently those things aren't considered healthy foods ?

I work at a small catholic school and can tell you why we don't allow water also. The kids can't handle it. You might think your child can but most can't. I teach 5th grade and they throw their water bottles, play with them during teaching time, eat them, anything you can think of. If I was his teacher and knew about CF I would just let him keep one, but maybe she is just trying to save her butt. Some schools can be strict and maybe she doesn't want to get in trouble with the principal.

Also, in terms of pill taking it is really an insurance issue. If something were to happen to the child (choking on a pill) then the school is liable.
