I can't tell if pain is from lung or muscle

I have this strange pain once in a while. Nobody can ever really give me a straight answer on it. Personally, I think it's the muscles. We cough a ton plus do a lot of chest physical theray and breathe in so many meds. I'd be suprised if we didn't have pain. If it gets too strong, I would def call the doc and ask for a chest x-ray.
