Not to split hairs, but Huntington's is an autosomal dominant disease, and it only takes one mutation to cause the disease... that diagram only works to explain how autosomal dominant diseases are inherited.

I hear you. I just figured the diagram shows the basic principals of gene transfer. Each parent has two and passes only one onto the offspring--that sort of thing.

For gene explanations, I prefer the BB and bb of eye color and the square diagram, but didn't find one online as quick as I found the Huntington's one.

My 12yr old son had a unit of genetics this yr and loved those things (Punnet squares I think they are called?) and drew a whole set of them all over the paper while bored at the ped's office a few months back, explaining how he inherited several of his features (including his cf carrier(we hope) status. Impressed the nurse and dr mightily, lol. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

My 12yr old son had a unit of genetics this yr and loved those things (Punnet squares I think they are called?) and drew a whole set of them all over the paper while bored at the ped's office a few months back, explaining how he inherited several of his features (including his cf carrier(we hope) status.
