Carry out food delivery at the hospital?

Liza, I used to live in Omaha, and I have to say UNMC is one of the best places out there. If I couldn't get what I wanted from the cafeteria, there was always someone from the cf "team" that would go get it for me. I miss them. lol

Cindy, that is so true. They are great people from the clinic staff to the nurses on the floor. There is more than one occassion that they'd bring something in for Anna while they were out or even go pick it up for her. They are the reason she decided to go back after transplant. She has even told the docs that they'd better not leave cause she'll follow them.

Aw, Liza that is so cool! I have moved way too far to go back to them, but if I could I would go in a heartbeat. Just a wonderful, wonderful team of people.

i doubt you'll be able to go out to get food yourself and as for going to the cafeteria, alot of hosp's aren't letting cfers do it bc of the infection control issues, and personally...as bad as the food is, i wouldn't want to go to the cafeteria. people who have just visited sick people are there, and residents/nurses, ect who have been around germs all day eat there.
my hosp is in nyc so i am in the perfect place for ordering take out. most nurses or resp tech's are more than happy to pick up my order-u call it in and they'll deliver to the main entrance desk but someone has to pick it up for u there usually.
another tip-ask for a mini fridge or use of the floor fridge and label your things. you can keep fresh fruits with PB, bread, juices, healthy crackers, luna bars, cereal, those prebagged salads with dressings in your room without a fridge too. if you think about it, there's alot of foods you can keep that you don't need a fridge for. make friends with a resp tech or nurse that doesn't mind picking you up a sandwich every day while they're on their lunch break.
you'll get through it!
