Over the past weekend I noticed my daughter was coughing, just a weird little cough like she had a tickle in the back of her throat. I called her doctor that I wasnt too concerned about it. Then around 5 pm on monday she started acting really lethargic. I though she was just hot and tired. yesterday morning she was really lethargic and didnt want to eat anything. I called the clinic and the nurse told me to take her to the pediatrician. The pediatricians office said they wouldnt be able to get her in at all this week. So I found an urgent care to take her to. They ran blood work and her white blood count is 25. the nurse at the urgent care said the norm was 16 or 17. My aunt said the norm is 10 or 11 and that the doctors were trying to just not scare me. The did xrays and got a urine sample. Everything was normal except the elevated white blood count. They gave her a shot of antibioticsand said to go see the cf doctor today.

Definitely sounds like she has an infection brewing. Does she routinely culture any CF bugs? I hope the CF docs can figure it out and that she is feeling better asap.

I called the cf clinic and they said this is the kind of situation that a pediatrician deals with. I made an appointment for her to see a new pediatrician at 3 pm. We know she has an infection because of the elevated WBC. They just couldnt tell me what it is. Hopefully we will find out at 3.
