caught a cold, now coughing

On Friday I caught a cold. Since last night I've been coughing more than usual. My lungs feel irritated and I have a scratchy cough (it isn't dry though, normal mucus). Overall I feel better except the cough. Am I supposed to do an additional treatment when like this or do I do my normal routine? My norm is to neb albuterol and then do 16 minutes of vest. No antibiotics.

I'm kicking this cold's butt, took vitamin C and I'm eating my garlic... does this sound like the annoying end of a cold or the beginning of a lung issue? I'm still breastfeeding Amelia so I can't take higher doses of vit C.

I would do the vest for 30 minutes 3 times a day if you can stand it.

Also, do you do hypertonic saline? That's a great way to make sure the cilia that line your airways to help move the virus and mucus out of your lungs.

Other than that.... if your sputum increases/you feel fatigued, I would consider abx.

Do you culture PA?

if ya have more mucus ,its best to do more physio,ie i have had a cold and it has had a direct consequence on my chest(coughing all the time, affects my sleeping ) i was told by my hospital that if this happens again i should contact the hospital,as more than likely the cold gave me a nasty chest infection
and hence the lowering of my fev1

its better to be safe than sorry
