cautiously optimistic

At my Dr.s appt 2 weeks aho my Dr. informed me that cepacia has not shown up in my sputum cultures since around Dec.

There is something new showing up but i can not remember what it was, let alone even pronounce it, but he said it is in the cepacia family, but isnt as bad like cepacia.
Well that day we did another sputum sample specifically looking for cepacia and yesterday my nurse handed me the results and sure enough it says <u>"no pseudomonas (burkholderia) cepacia"</u>

I am cautiously optimistic about it for several reasons....
One being, i have been on iv antibiotics pretty much since Jan. and it may have knocked the cepacia so far down it isnt strong enough to show up in a sputum sample and may return as soon as i am off iv's.

The next reason is, cepcia is so rare to eradicate , especially after almost 13 years of having it.

My optimistic side says with God anything is possible, and i have prayed for it to be gone for years.

I guess i will have to wait and see, but it sure would be great if it were gone<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

That is great to hear Diane! Hopefully, you will be able to delete "b. cepcia" from your signature! I hope the hemoptysis is under control too!
