Cayston Thumb - Azli, Gilead, MRSA

I can't believe those little metal vials went to market. I would have really been harse on the trial to this delivery method. Am I missing something?

It seems in a period of a week I seem to have 5 small cuts on the side of my thumb. I've been on it almost 3 weeks so I'm all sliced up!! They aren't deep enough to draw blood until today. I can't even feel them and don't feel myself letting the sharp metal slip in my fingers.

I told my dh and he told me to start using a fork or pliers. Are you kidding me? Is this what I really need to do? Did I miss the directions on how to properly open this thing? With MRSA I can't take a risk of creating open wounds on myself.

Also I think the metal once pried off is very scary. All I can say is I'm glad I no longer have a baby around who puts everything in his mouth. Other than that...it's a great drug working wonders!

I hate that metal part! I think there is still time to complain to Gilead. Maybe I'll complain to the pharmacy - do you think they would pass it along?

Was the drug sent this way in the trials or is this someones new bad idea?

well an update - I called Foundation Care and told them of what is going on. She was quite concerned. I asked if others should call too or is my complaint enough and she said that my complaint is probably enough (she noted that I told her others were having the same problems) but if she needs more then she will call me. She is going to tell the pharmacist and when they have their meeting with the manufacturer they will discuss this.
