Cayston, total treatment takes a lot of time

It has only added about 10-15 minutes to my schedule, because I neb a bronchodilator.
I would would be asking about using the TOBI and Cayston at the same time. The few people I've seen doing both, do them on alternating months so you only have one at a time. I'd even ask if you can cut one altogether, I recently learned that TOBI does nothing for me now so building resistant is a real problem.

For me I don't notice any additional benefits from doing HTS more than twice a day. Barely notice a benefit from doing Pulmozyme more than once a day. Could just be me though.
Unfortunately it will probably take some time for the technology to spread. I completely agree that doing all the meds on the Altera would create a "critical mass" of time savings, and make up for the longer cleaning issues. Regulatory red tape, research, and financial incentive probably means it will be a slow process to get there.

Just my 2 cents.

I was told by my doctor to never take pulmozyme more than twice a day no matter how good it makes me feel. I would check with your doctor about taking it 3 times/day. I also only do cayston in my afternoon treatment with the albuterol inhaler. By just doing that, you will significantly decrease your afternoon medication time.

For me, depending on the day and how I am feeling... I also do just the puffer xopenex before my cayston dose. Otherwise I do a combo of puffer xopenex and pulmozyme or full on nebbed dose of xopenex and pulmozyme. I was really afraid of the cleaning time (I had an eflow back when they were still relatively new from like 06-07 and my head was always clogging with proper cleaning, but I was using all my meds in it which was what was clogging it)... anyways, I was happy that for my morning and afternoon does, I just rinse with soapy water and air dry for my next dose, at night I do all my sterilizations for the next day, regardless if im on cayston or not.
I actually noticed a difference for me on cayston... but after about 3 weeks, it weaned... which is what happens for me on TOBI too... after about 2-3 weeks, it stops being as effective. I will be starting my 2nd month only of cayston on Friday...

Also if you are doing cayston and tobi in the same month that is wrong.

Another tip is they actually have the eflow and a formula of TOBI just for the eflow, I believe it takes about 5-7 minutes? I know some people do HTS and pulmo and xopenex in the eflow, but like I said, when I did all the meds... something was making it clog (I have heard pulmo and HTS). Your doctor should be able to get you info about the eflow or TRIO for Tobi.

My final piece of advice... what compressor do you have? I messed around with the pari's for a couple years after my eflow years... and just about a month ago got the Invacare Mobilaire 50 psi compressor... IT IS AMAZING!! Tobi takes me 12-15 minutes!!!! Not the 30-40 like with my old pari ultra proneb II. I also use this for all my others like xopenex and HTS and I feel that my treatments are actually more effective and last longer throughout the day now. I did a week of high psi though for xopenex, HTS and pulmozyme (around 40 psi) but that was too high and became not effective... I stick with just 25 psi and I only spend 1 hour on xopenex, HTS and Tobi... I do 30 minutes of vest during HTS and if I am in a hurry I'll start my vest during xopenex.

xopenx is about 7 minutes
HTS is about 9-12 minutes
tobi is about 12-15 minutes

hope this helps...
