Cayston users,

Not a huge deal -- I used to run into this problem at work sometimes.

1) Rinse the neb immediately and thoroughly -- preferably with sterile or distilled water that you bring with you in a water bottle.

2) Bring several alcohol pads and immediately (without applying pressure) wipe down the head thoroughly. I would also wipe down the membrane/blue squishy thing.

3) Wrap the head loosely in a clean paper towel.

4) Place entire neb/head combo in a clean ziplock pag and seal.

5) Sterilize thoroughly using your regular routine AS SOON as you get home. Store head in alcohol until next use.

It won't cause huge issues with the head, I promise.

How do you sterilize? They sent us the NUK, but I didn't like how wet it left the parts. I was told the research for sterilizing was done with the Avent.
Can you boil them?

So, I've received my cayston. I opened the long box to find 2 different vials here. However, there are no instructions.(I'm going to search again through the whole box for them!)

I'm assuming this med has to be mixed-and it looks like with a syringe which I also don't have.
I called my doc office but unfortunately they left early today and I won't be able to talk to them till Mond. I was supposed to start this weekend but I guess I may not afterall.

The vial has a rip off top. You lift the circle and carefully tear off the metal sides. It should come off in one pc. I caution you if it does not which it will not at least once a week, use a knife not your finger to pull the remainder of the metal ring off. I posted on the forum about it and as it turns out many of us are being inadvertantly sliced on our thumb by the packaging. Once the rubber top is off you squirt one whole vial of saline into the vial. Put the rubber stopper back on and gently swirl until the powder is disolved. Then pour the medicine into your eflow.

Who did you receive the order from that they didn't include any directions? Also, I thought the directions are in the PI which should have been included by the pharma co. during manufacturing.

I get mine from CF Services Pharmacy who also included a NUK steam sterilizer, two rubbermaid containers, soap, an extra handset, an Eflow system which incl's one handset, and a promotional bag.
