CF and cervical cone biopsy

My husband and I have just decided to start a family. We have already talked to my doctors about it and they answered all our questions about CF and getting pregnant, but a little over 8 yrs ago I had 2 surgeries to remove cone biopsies of my cervix. My doctor said it's important to stay active during the pregnancy to help keep my lungs clear, but I'm worried about the partial cervix. I heard you should take it easy in that case to avoid miscarriage. I'm starting to get very worried and I'm not even pregnant yet. Does anyone have any experience in this area or have any advice?

I had cryosurgery a few times when I was in my early 20's. I *believe* I also had a cone biopsy. My son is 3 and I got pregnant with him after 3-4 months of TTC. I would consult my OB/GYN with this question and he/she can def. give you the answer you are looking for.

I have had 2 biopsies of my cervix, as well as 2 LEEP (electrosurgical knife type thing) procedures to remove precancerous cells from my cervix.

Going into all of this my GYN knew that we had been TTC and would like to continue trying. As such, she took as little of my cervix as possible. In the end I do have some scar tissue there, however, she doesn't feel that it would effect my ability to carry a child to term. In addition, our Reproductive Endocrinologist (fertility doc) shares her opinion that it should not increase the likelihood of miscarriage.

If possible, I would talk to the GYN who performed the biopsies or have your current GYN check your cervix and what they think. They should be able to get a pretty good look at your cervix and see if they think you are at an increased risk for miscarriage due to the biopsies.

Good luck to you! Let us know if you have any other questions.
