I don't use tampons unless I'm going swimming either. I also have a tilted uterus, and I don't know if it's related, but I get terrible cramps when I use one. I am just grateful for the new super thin pads they have out these days! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I, too, am glad for the post about tampons. I bleed excessively (at least I think it is excessive...my PCP doesn't think it is a big deal) for a full 6-7days. I can go through a super tampon and a super pad in about an hour. Sometimes I don't know if I am on my period or if I am hemorrhaging. I always have to wear a pad in addition to a tampon because I bleed through. I have always felt that this can't be right and even though the tampon appears to be fully saturated and opened up maybe the mucus does affect the way it absorbs the blood.
I really miss being on the pill (I was on it in my teens and twenties) and my periods then were pretty regular and a lot lighter. However, since I am not currently in a relationship and hate taking any additional medication that I don't HAVE to I am no longer on birth control. I am very interested in something that would totally make me stop having a period and something that I wouldn't have to take every day.

I am so gald that you started this post. I think it is important that we all are proactive on this topic.

When I am on my period my hemoptysis is worse by far! Along with the normal period symptoms my bowels change also.
Until now I have been on birth control for almost 4 years so I could skip my periods. We will be trying to conceive in the near future so I have stopped.

But I skipped my periods for about 3 months straight and then allow it to start again. I would have one period and then start the skipping all over again. I asked my Gyno if she thought that it would harm my body if I did this and she said it wouldn't harm me at all but she recommended only stopping it for three months consecutively, and then have one.

I found that by doing this my hemoptysis was much less. I would recommend it to anyone that has a hard time with their cf while they are on their period.
Of course talk to your dr first but that just my opinion.

Keep the posts coming this is interesting!!!
