CF care and accrediting

Hello all,

I know this is kinda an extension of my earlier question regarding good cities for us to live it, but I'm curious for those of you who live in Germany or London what the care is like for your CF?

I ask because we have an opportunity to be stationed there for 2 years and I really really want to try to get an overseas assignment, however I will ONLY be able to convince the military I can do it IF they have great CF care and standards similar to the U.S. For example, are you followed by a "team" for your CF including a dietician, social worker and doctor? Are you treated inpatient or at home on IV meds?

Is there any sort of accrediting board overseas for CF care, similar to the CFF accredits clinics here? (I sometimes think I could get BETTER care going to a regular pulmonary doc even here in the states after some of the "accredited" care I've received, so "accrediting" doesn't always mean much to me).

Anyway, any info. would be GREAT. I guess we could be stationed about 30 miles from London or at Ramstein in Germany. PLEASE info!!!!

Thanks!

i'm not in the military so i can't help you in that regard but i live in italy right now and found this website to be helpful for me.... www.cfww.org its CF World Wide and has info about CF centers outside the US.
I would also talk to your current CF docs and enlist their help in finding out info about overseas clinics. The CF doc community is pretty tight-knit and so they have probably at least heard of or met a doc from London or Germany at a CF conference and would have the contact info for them.
good luck!

I did sit with a whole London CF team at a dinner for the NACF Conference in Orlando. I think it's called Barts and the London.
PM me if you'd like some more info.

Good Luck. I hope you get to travel!
