CF care center in Birmingham, AL

I currently go to the CF clinic in Jackson, MS, but I'm thinking of changing clinics. My reason is because as I've said before my FEV1 has gone from the 90s to 70%, even lower when I'm sick. I've NEVER been in the hospital on IVs and I've just been put on Levaquin for the 4th time since October. There is only one CF doc in the care center here. The doctor here was my doc from when I was 18 mos-13 yrs and now for the past 2 years. I was just wanting any info on UAB if anyone goes there.

I go there, and have ever since it started ('02?). Please feel free to pm me any specific questions you have. So far, it sounds like it may be a good switch <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . It is a bit crowded, but I can't see them letting you go with a 20% decline without insisting on a round of IVs.

I go to the center in Birmingham, AL. The team is pretty good. They have made sure that my numbers are maintained when I'm well, and make sure they go back up after being sick. I would highly reconmend you switch. You want to keep you numbers up as long as possible. If you have any questions let me know. I have been going there for 5 years or so.

I live in Fairhope, Alabama (gulf coast area) and I use a doctor in Mobile. I tried the clinic at UAB about 3 years ago, but it just didn't seem to work out for me. I did not have a good experience with communication. They would never return my calls and it became a hassel for me to drive 4 hours to go to the doctor. I would go twice a month at times. So although the office here in Mobile isn't as big as UAB, I think they provide me with adequate care and I can call now and have an appointment this afternoon if needed.
