Just to echo:

CF sucks, but there's many adults (myself included) living full productive and awesome lives.

My parents rolled the dice after they had me (I was the first kid) and had my little brother, and he doesn't have CF. So just think of it as a dice roll. Here's hoping you don't hit the 1/4 but if you do it will all be OK.

I STILL can't believe you were told the two genes would cancel eachother out. Wow! I hope you get some answers soon. Again I believe there are a number of people on this site with that gene combo and hopefully they can provide some insight.

Hi, Our story is very much like SARAHSARAH253 but for the fact that we found out after birth that our Joanna has cf - we don't do genetic test here when we get pregnant - at least if there is no reason to and we had no reasons.
After 3 years we decided to have a second child - no matter cf or not - we did not do prenental test on our second - and she is a healthy carrier. We deciced that we wouldn't give up Joanna no matter what - she is such a wonderful child for us - and so we did the same for Zuzi.
The only way to be sure is to test the baby - but you must know ther are some risks in this testing - very small but still and you shuuld ask yourselves will this change your attitude twards the little one. Knowing is also good - you'll be ready for more - or just know that everything is fine as far as cf. It's a tough decision... I hope your little one is healthy.
