I see there is a CF center in Atlanta, GA called Emory University headed by Linda WOlfenden. Does anyone go to this center and can you give me any and all information?

Also, there is a center in Augusta, GA at the Medical College of Georgia headed up by Caralee Forseen. Anyone go to this one.

Please let me know if you have any information, experience, opionion about theses two centers. Doing research to relocate.

Thanks! Jennifer 36 years old soon to be 37!!! With CF and CFRD

I have no direct experience with either of these CF centers. Generally speaking, Emory has a good reputation. My sister was treated there for her first battle with cancer (which has unfortunately recurred 3 more times and she is still battling cancer). People would drive in from other states to get treated there for cancer. My sister should have died a long time ago and does a lot of research and flew to a different state about once a week to be treated at Duke when she was diagnosed with a very aggressive, deadly form of cancer. So I tend to feel that if she thinks Emory is good, that's a fairly high recommendation.

My sister currently lives in the Atlanta area but lived for many years in Augusta. As a place to live, I like Augusta better. I used to visit her for weeks at a time when she lived in Augusta and got to know Augusta better than some of the places I lived as a military wife who moved a lot.

I know you didn't ask, but these are some of the resources I check out when I am wondering where I might like to live:

Good luck with your research and your move.

Can't say anything about Augusta but the Emory center has just seperated from CHOA into an adult focused center in the last 2ish years.

From what I understand the Augusta clinic is a satellite center with clinic only every 3 months. This is what I was told when I was considering taking my daughter there. I don't know about the adult clinic in Atlanta, but the children's clinic is only 2nd to the clinic I use now (in my opinion).
