I was looking online at CF care centers in South Carolina.. I see there are two care centers, an adult and pediatric one in Charleston, and I See a Pediatric Care Center in Columbia.....

Does anyone have any experience good, bad or indifferent with any three of these places? IF you live in SC, where are you going for your CF care....

Thanks for the information... I am doing some research.....

I was a bridesmaid in a girl's wedding who has CF. She used to live in South Carolina (did for 18 years, until she got married and moved with her military husband). I'll send you a PM and get you in touch with her so you can ask her.

My husband and I (who has CF) live in Columbia, South Carolina. He goes to the CF Clinic at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill. But his doctor up there told him that the CF Center in Charleston at MUSC is also really good. I also heard from a pulmonologist at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia that they will soon be opening a clinic there. Hope that helps!

Hey Thank you so much for your response.. DO you love Columbia???.. I have been there and thought the town was amazing..... It is so much more cost effective to live there then here and the people are really nice.... How is your husbands breathing with the air and heat?

I was looking at Palmetto hospital online as well as Lexington.. Has your husband ever been to any of those hospitals? I am going to be in Columbia in March.... looking around at stuff and would like to line up some appointments..

How far is Chapel Hill from Columbia??? I am a real mild case of CF so I don't require a lot of care as far as my lungs go but I do have quite a few other medical conditions

I am excited for your response....and very excited to know that they are going to be opening a CF care center right in Columbia...... It is like God is paving the way for me... THough nothing is definite and really I am just looking at some things.....

Thanks so much

I'm in SC

I do have experience with MUSC. Thats where I was diagnosed. MUSC is great, pretty small clinic but overall good. They have a great RT and Dr.Flume (the adult CF doc) is excellent. I don't go there anymore due to distance and the fact my health has been really good so I have just been using a pulmo and internist. However if things change as far as my healt I would not hesitate to go back to MUSC. They are very thorough and I found they had a really positive outlook on CF. They are really big on home health care and home IVs, anything that minimizes inpatient stays. I have no experience inpatient as I was only hospitalized as a peds patient at the children's hospital.

Only downside is how bad downtown charleston floods! You don't want to be trying to get to or from MUSC when its flooded!

Columbia already has a CF center, my brother's GF is a RT there but I think it might be peds only. Greenville also has one but once again peds only
