Additionally Midland to Dallas would be more like 6 + hours away, not 5.
toss in another 45 mins. for traffic, bathroom breaks, etc.

Kerrville to Dallas: 295 miles, took us about 6 to 6 and 1/2 hours with a lunch break.
Midland to Dallas: 330 straight on 84 so.. yeah.

Actually ignore my posts, I just realized I talked to you about the SA clinic earlier so.. anyway Dallas is still good, no experience with the childrens side but the adult CF guys are cool.

Thanks for all the responses. It gives me some options to think about. I did call the CFF today and they said it is each local chapter who lists the CF Centers on the website and she told me to call the Ft Worth chapter. I called there and was told it was not them, but the national office who lists them... you know how that game goes...pass the blame back and forth. Anyway, she was very nice and told me that the dr from Fort Worth travels to Midland regularly to see the patients there. She gave me the number to the clinic in Ft. Worth. I called there and was told that no, they don't see patients in Midland but they do see them in Abilene (go figure...at this point I am so confused I don't know what to think)...

As far as the San Antonio clinic, that is where we currently go. I did mapquest it and it seemed to be much further from Midland that Dallas. As far as the problems that I've had with San Antonio go, they have nothing to do with the actual dr. I really like her a lot. It's some of the other staff I have had issues with. Careless handling of things and never returning calls are a big issue for me. I think we probably see the same ENT you were talking about as he takes care of most of the CF patients in the area. I do really like him too. That is one of the bad things about moving.

Right now everything is up in the air as far as where we will go. The nurse coordinator from Ft Worth is supposed to call me tomorrow and that should give me a bunch more info.

Oh, and as far as Dr. Bray in Midland goes, four different staff members told me he does not see CF patients. The last girl I talked to said she asked Dr. Bray himself just to be positive and he said no. And the number you gave, 1-800-SLEEP... well, there aren't enough numbers there... But I have called his office several times already.

Thanks again everyone.

Renee,

I use to live in Midland, Texas or Middle of the Land, Texas as we called it.Lived there for about 4 or 5 yeaars than moved to houston and am now in Maryland for the last 6 years. Dallas is far away but there is a pretty big medical center in Lubbock, Texas Tech I believe it is. They were pretty up on things about 20 years ago and they are a medical teaching hospital. You may want to see it they have a CF specialist or highly praised pulomologist. That would at least save you some of the long visits. Lubbock is only 2 hours out of Texas.

Enjoy the Friday night lights....high school football is truly big there.

I looked it up on the internet, and it shows a cf center opened up in Lubbock 3-10-95, at the University of Texas Health Center.

I want to cry for you!  I'm so sorry you're going through
this.  Nice to hear that someone comes from Ft. Worth
periodically.  I was going to suggest FW before I even read
that.  Even if you have to do the driving, I would definitely
pick FW over Dallas.  At the wrong time of day that could be
difference of an hour (one way).  FW is much closer to Midland
than Dallas is if you take into consideration getting through the
entire metroplex.  I'll be looking for the outcome of all
this.  Good luck!
