CF clinic?

Well, it was a battle trying to convince my son's pediatrician of his need to be seen at a CF clinic, but we finally got the approval. We will be going to Duke University Medical Center's CF clinic next month. Does anybody have any knowledge/opinion about this particular clinic?

Your son needs to be retested. At last count, there are almost 1900 mutations, a test for 32 is almost worthless.

Just to let you know, CF is a body-wide problem. Everywhere "normal" people secrete mucus, people with CF make more of it, and its thicker. CF can affect multiple body systems, and if you have a CF center specialist's input, you have instant access to answers to any problems that arise. They also can anticipate any issues by knowing what to look for (with blood work or appropriate tests). My CF center has doctors available at all times in case of problems (and some problems can be resolved via phone call--unlike any other doctor's office).
Our daughter is 30 years old. She was diagnosed at 6 months. Most of the newly diagnosed children at that time went to a CF Center. The ones that didn't did much worse than those
that did.
