CF Fundraiser Yesterday

One guy had a list of things he was supposed to find for his wife, who was running another rummage sale at a nearby church and after he paid me, he whipped out a checkbook and made a donation to the CFF.

We've struggled so much with the walk because there are just soooo many during the spring --- several the same day as ours, the week before one for March of Dimes, another for ALS and then several for the following weekends including a marathon. I think our only saving grace this year was the slide show we put together.

I'm hoping the rummage sale will be ongoing. Was nice that it was in a public venue, well advertised with over 75 vendors. A friend of mine's friend runs a charity and they make over $3000 each time.

One thing I'm thinking for next time is to bring a donation jar or box so people can donate should they choose. We had a poster board display up with our kids pictures, cf info and cute sayings. Oh and I have a pile of adult clothes and shoes to sell next time. 'course people will probably be looking for other things next time <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I've been part of fundraisers/awareness initiatives for the Epilepsy foundation too, and times when you do anything to make it personal always makes the biggest difference... so the poster board display, slide show, etc, I am sure made the biggest impact. I agree making a convenient way to donate will help (maybe incorporating a donation box with the poster) would be great. Too bad they couldn't split up half the Great Strides walks so half were spring, half were fall. Our state has a whole bunch too... in a TINY area, there are 5 or 6, all within an hour's drive of each other and all scheduled on two consecutive weekends, I think.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Oh and I have a pile of adult clothes and shoes to sell next time. 'course people will probably be looking for other things next time</end quote></div>
Naturally! Just to be safe, put out a table of, say... old pots and pans and Tupperware. You know, those tiny things people gave you as wedding presents that are so small they generally just take up cabinet space now that we cook giant family-size meals. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

Liza,

That's alot of $ from a rummage sale. Wow. I 've been thinking of getting rid of lots of household stuff, too. I hope to have a yard sale sometime soon...It'll be good to get rid of stuff just taking up room in our house.
