CF got me Sober

I joined CF.com for cf support. What I get in addition to that is amazing Experience, Strength and Hope. Thanks Everyone. It is in that spirit that I share my story of getting help for my drinking problem. It was only after my son's dx that I did. I was a daily drinker for many yrs. (27). I slept with a bottle of vodka between my mattresses so when I came to with the shakes and sweats I could suck some down. I was a mess. Jared was sick all his life, but it was only until he was dx'd that I did what I needed to so I could handle taking care of him. I won't say I've had perfectly uninterrupted sobriety for seven yrs. because I have not. But it's been pretty good and because I took a good look at myself, I was able to never miss a treatment or appointment for him. Thanks for being here and for letting me share.

Well done, this way you will live and watch Jared grow into a person that will share and reflect on you, also positive sides to CF. Yes there are such sides, they can be a chance for a deep unique bond and a chance to learn to enjoy and see things that others might take for granted. Also maybe you'll learn to see more positive sides and worth in yourself. Alcohol doesn't compare.

Glad you are doing so well. And I'm glad this forum is helping you. It's nice to have people to talk to about CF that actually understand. Good luck and God bless. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am proud of your courage ANGELA!, I hope you find strength and support to take care of YOU, while Jared grows and his needs change. You sound like a very strong woman who could be an advocate for other mothers who struggle with the same issues...God Bless you
