The abbreviations in our home:

b/s = blood sugar level, as in "what's your b.s.?"
teathered = i.v. hook up
b/t = breathing treatment
complete b/t = breathing treatment + vest
zymes = enzymes, as in "got your zymes?"

I always think the same thing.

The other one I remember seeing is STD. It took me the longest time to figure out they meant Short Term Disability and had not actually constracted an STD.

This is a great topic...these terms were used when I was little and we still throw them around at my house all these years later...

nebulizers=nebies "haley did you do your nebies?"

enzymes=zymes

mucus= loogies or stickies

SD's booty blowout in my family is an "Exxon-Valdeze" (as in the oil spill)

someone mentioned insulin as shooting up...i refer my iv's to shooting up. jail is being in the hospital. manual cpt used to be getting beat (the hubby really wants to do this, but is afraid and i won't let him lol). torture is the vest. i also refer to myself as a pin cushion cause we get poked with needles so much. every time i see sob i think son of a b*tch too!! always will!
