I attended a funeral a couple years ago for a teen awaiting a lung transplant -- she was able to donate her corneas and her hair (to make wigs for chemo patients). They also stressed donor awareness and had brochures available for people attending.

My hubby and I are both organ donors, and our families know our wishes.

My hubby, Doug, is going one step further and donating his body to a medical school for students to learn on.

I will follow his wishes, the only thing upsetting to me is I will not receive his body back. Once they are done with it, it is cremated with the rest of the bodies at the school.

I am not a parent of a CFer but still an organ donor, it is the responsible thing to do. Someone should benefit from my death.

Thanks for the info -- the lady at the DMV sure made it sound like the family would have no choice whatsoever. It makes more sense the way you explain it.
