Here is the post I just did for magnesium. It is not very extensive, but I linked to a couple of pages that are very informative.

Sharktank.org is awesome and I believe ahead of its times!
Check out their info on Taurine too.

I too have never heard of any of this stuff from our docs. When I tell them what we are doing, they just say well it shouldn't hurt<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

blessings,

Hmm...we give Ellie sea salt, but didn't know there was a potential benefit to the magnesium component.

I did give her DHA for a few months, but discontinued as she doesn't care for the taste. I discussed DHA with her dietician and she informed me that the studies being done with CF and DHA (or fish oil) are actually suggesting that it may be of little benefit regarding inflammation. Apparently, CF patients don't channel these fats properly and they get converted into a less beneficial form. She intimated that it may actually be harder on them systemically and possibly more harmful than good. Don't have that study data, however!

magnesium is another benefit of sea salt from what I gather, in addition to it being without chemicals and alkaline in nature.
I am interested in DHA stuff though. I give flaxseed oil for that to my dd. Do you know if what your nutritionist says applies to PS patients as well?

There was also a study suggesting DHA increases resistance to PA.

I take fish oil for inflammation, I take enzymes when I take it. You are suppose to take it with food to help it absorb. That being said I def notice a difference.
