My question is this: with all the CF trials going on...corrective gene therapy, salt transport....will these have an impact on the digestive aspect of CF? Thank you.

99% of CF patients die from lung failure. So there isn't as much sense of urgency around digestive issues with CF.

Thank you for the info. But my question is: do these drugs also affect the digestive system since they are trying to correct the defective gene? And what about the liver and pancreas/diabetes, is there any focus on these CF issues I wonder? Or is the digestive system controllable as far as symptoms go?
PS Thank your friend Chris for me...because of him, I am able to live in freedom and live the American drea.

I don't think there's much focus on the liver, pancrease. The digestive system is not perfect, but it's surely not as bad as the lungs are with CF. So the focus is on the lungs.

I was offered to do a digestive trial about two years ago. It would eventually tell me if I even needed to be on medicine for it. The issue was that I had to collect my poop and turn it in and that was too much for me at the time. I never did hear anything else about the trial though so I am assuming it didn't amount to anything.

I understand the liver to be affected because of the thicker bile....actigall helps this....but I wonder the long term affects on the liver....and if liver disease can be held at bay with the actigall or other medicines/nutrition....?
