CFRD, ever had it just go away?

I second what CalliSally said about illness causing high blood sugars. It is true that any stress on the body affects blood sugars, that includes physical sickness. That could be part of the puzzle. Plus, maybe his body doesn't have to work so hard trying to survive, and is finding it a bit easier to work properly?

As far as I have researched, docs/researchers still do not know the exact cause of CFRD. There have been a few studies, all differing in reasoning, but it seems that there are a lot of factors that cause CFRD (if any one has info on it, please let me know, I am super interested in learning more).

Just a tidbit...
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.docstoc.com/docs/525425/Cystic-Fibrosis-Related-Diabetes">"The American Diabetes Association (ADA) classifies CFRD under 'other specific types of diabetes' involving diseases of the exocrine pancreas. CFRD shares some features of type 1 and type 2 diabetes but has important clinical distinctions that make its medical treatment and medical nutritional therapy (MNT) unique."</a>

To my understanding, Type 1 is classified by an autoimmune response that attacks the insulin producing beta cells. This is not what happens with CFRD. (and why I could not 'pass the tests' to get my insurance to pay for an insulin pump without a huge fight)
