Chemo

Thank-you everyone for your information and prayers. I've had a bit of a rough time for the past few days as had surgery to open up a stricture in my bowel, but then developed a blockage. I've been laid out pretty much and my lungs are suffering for it. I'm on 6 antibiotics though, 2 i.v's, 2 nebbed and 2 oral, as well as all the other stuff, so I'm going to try and get them as clear as possible over the oncoming week. I have another appointment with the chemo specialist tomorrow, so will hopefully find out more about what to expect etc. The idea isn't quite as scary as when it was initially raised, but they did say I could breeze through it, or it could be really awful last time i went. It might be sensible to try it and see how I go.
Thoughts and prayers go out to you all, particularly Marjolein. Really hope all goes as well as possible for you.
Much love

I had another PETscan last Friday, due to some swelling in my neck. Docs wanted to rule out the possibility of metastasen in the lymphnodes there.

It turned out, there weren't any there. But the cancer has metastasized to lymphnodes in my chest. They can't cure it anymore... There were really high hopes after the surgery to remove the Adenocarcinoma from my lung. But now... the only hope is that a really heavy chemotreatment can get it to a halt for we hope a long time, maybe shrink it a little.
The oncologist even gave me the choice of no chemo, as the cancer is so aggressive (it is growing in the field where they are doing radiation). The chemo will be very aggressive and will make me very poorly and there is about a 50/50 chance it will do something.
But I am taking the chance. The chance it will do something, that in between chemo I will feel good enough (better than I do now) to do the things that I love. I know, with how aggressive this cancer has turned out to be, growing right through the radiation, that without chemo I will never feel better than I do now as when the radiation side effects have worn off there would be a very high chance the cancer will have spread even further...

Chemo, I am going for it!
