Chest bones popping

I'd visit the chiropractor to make sure everything is back aligned. You could have a rib popped out of place from coughing. THat would likely be constant pain though. I had the costo condritis once. Lasted 6 weeks. So painful.
Then once aligned you need to strengthen up. Do you know the "pulling weeds" exercise. That's a good one. Chiro can show you some more.

You might also try a physical therapy practice with orthopedic skills. Go to Find a therapist and click on find a therapist link. Follow the routine and then look for a PT with an OCS or SCS after their name. You may be pleasantly surprised in the experience. You may PM me if you wish.

I've had the same issue with my sternum - I don't have CF, so I know that's not the cause (for me, anyway)! I think mine started around the time of having children. Your joints/symphyses loosen when you're pregnant due to relaxin hormone. The symphysis along my sternum didn't return to normal...at least, this is my assumption!
