chest pain

I've gotten to the point where my dr's don't tell me to do anything about the blood. I bleed before, during and after IV's for some reason. Before ANYTIME that I would bleed the nurse practicioner always had me start IV's (thinking it was infection) but it's not. It is just what my body does. So now they are over that (because I never freaked out about it, just tried to stop it).
So for me, it is 'normal' to bleed. Never can pinpoint it but I usually don't have pain. So I just continue to do all treatments, exercise, etc. just as I would if I weren't bleeding at all.

You might want to ask your dr for the fact that you are having pain, that could be an indication of something.

Good luck and I hope it's nothing!

After my last round (or actually during, but toward the end) of iv's in November I started having hemoptysis. Its not unusual for me to have bleeds, but this was more "out of nowhere" then usual. My doctor thought that any therapeutic benefit I was getting from the 3 meds was exhausted and was then turning "toxic" so she reduced it down to 2 meds which seemed to help. Shortly after that I was done with my iv's and hadnt have any real problems since. Even tho the meds are meant to help, you have to remember that it fills our bodies with tons of stuff. Being that you have been off iv's for awhile when this started I am not sure. I am much like Kelli and dont really pay attention or worry about my bleeds. I just do what I have to in order to get thru it. KNOCK ON WOOD I have never have had a bleed that couldnt be managed with ice water, rest and extra vitamin k. Good Luck!

Don't ignore it. Be sure to check with your Doc. I just got out of the hospital after having a big bleed! I had a nosebleed the week before and the dr thought it maybe was just from dryness. One night I coughed, the gurgle started and I knew right away it was different and not going to be good. My poor husband had to call the Paramedics and I passed out. Got airlifted to another facilty. The bleed stopped on its own but not after giving everyone a hard time keeping me breathing. Spent a couple days on a vent.
My Dr says it happens, and it could have been an infection that was irritating the vessels in my lungs. I had been on antibiotics and was just about to start home IV's. I am thankful to be better, ended up meeting a really terrific bunch of CF healthcare folks.
Again, follow your gut feelings and any doubts, pursue it with your dr. Sometimes it takes a few trials of different antibiotics to get the "Gunk" out. Good luck
