How are they supposed to look?
Is there a site I can look at normal ones and those with say lung damage or disease?

I had not looked at mine before got x-ray yesterday and was confused as to how they should look my upper lobes were dark and everything else was white. Is that how it should look? I thought the parts that had air were dark or am I wrong?

There are a lot of subtle things docs look for on a chest x-ray. A "healthy" pair of lungs will look all dark, meaning that they are full of air, no blockage, or cysts or cancers. What shows up as white is usually where stuff, like tissue and mucus are thicker.

When I have looked at my daughters X-rays the docs explained to me that the white was where her pneumonia was and scarring.

Thank you I asked these questions. So I was right. I was just pretty shocked to see so much white. The tech asked me if I felt all right. Was suprised to see it was that bad. All of my lungs but the middle and outer part of my upper lobes were completely white.
