I ask out of curiosity and because I wondering if anyone had
thoughts on the CF centers at Children's Memorial Hospital or Rush?

My daughter attends the clinic at Children's Memorial. We are very happy there. The team is knowledgeable and professional yet so very caring and personable. They also hold clinics at their branches, one in the north suburbs and one in Westchester.

Thanks everyone for your replies!

Dyza- My OB screened me for CF as a part of a routine blood check. It was not available when I was pregnant with Shane. When I came back as a carrier, we tested my husband. They said it would be rare for us both to be carriers-ha. Then as my son kept getting sick we did the sweat test and are pursuing other tests. We will test my daughter at birth. More than you asked, but just in case you wanted to know.

Anon- I'd love to look at other clinics, but my ins. isn't that great.

my insurance does not cover lutheran either, but I still go because of the quality of the care. I only hope that someday they will update and start carrying my insurance again. When my insurance dropped them, I tried other docs/hospitals but one trip to the hospital and I was back. Insurance only covers 70% but it is still worth it.

We attend private care center in Chicago. It is called Chicago CF care specialist. We loved it! We followed our doctor to private care when he left Children's memorial. It is ran just like a CF center but a great deal more quality time.

We often feel like we have a private doctor and nurse. It is hard to remember sometimes that he also has 150 other Cf patients. A doctor that still makes house calls? Not really but close. When we are struggling, we have received calls on Sturdays, Sundays, late nights, just to see how we are doing. He tells the employees of his office. "the patients you see will be an extended family, if you can't handle this kind of relationship, then this line of work isn't for you"
He is located in Glenview but also sees patients in Naperville. He was solely the reason we came to Children's memorial and the reason we left. We feel very fortunate to be with a doctor so dedicated to treating people with CF
