Hi Sam,

I just wanted to welcome you to this website...
I don't know how anyone else feels about prayer request, I personally am a praying person but If the idea doens't go over well I know a christian website for Cf... I know they take prayer requests and things like that here..

The website is CF_4_Christians@yahoogroups.com.

I WOULD LOVE TO, HOWEVER I WORRY ABOUT THE REPROCUSSIONS! I DO BELIEVE IN PRAYER AND I KNOW THAT PRAYER WORKS! I HAVE SEEN IT IN MANY CIRCUMSTANCES IN MY CHILDRENS LIVES

Hi Sam

I am also a christian and believe in prayer. I do not have CF but my daughter does, her faith in the Lord is great and she is such a blessing and inspiration to me.

Welcome to the site. =-) Since you're new you might not know there's a guy on here named Allen who needs a lung transplant. That's really the only CF related prayer requests that I can think of, though.

As for testamonies, i have one of my own; CF tends to generate a lot of debt as we all very well know. =-) So money was always something I worried about since I started getting ready for moving out of my parent's house. After a time, i ended up here in Downtown Denver in my own little studio apartment which I love, but the only problem was I had a one-day-a-week job. Granted, it was a twelve hour day, so I was getting about $100 a week, but that would just cover the cost of my rent ($395 a month) and not much anything else. I was beyond worrying about money, though. I just took one day at a time and let tomorrow with all of tomorrow's bills worry about themselves. Strangely enough, every month I'd have just enough to get by. There would always be something; someone at work would call in sick and I'd have the opportunity to cover for them; or I'd get a check from somewhere else for some other thing I had done... well, anyway, you get the idea. =-) God's looking out for me, I can feel that. And in the meantime I'm in the optimal location to be carrying out his work. =-) I can see why He wanted me here and it makes me so happy to have everything I need and to have my life brought up into focus like it is.

Anyway, i'm done now. How about you, Samuel? Who do you know with CF and how are they doing? Hopefully this thread won't be having any problems with people getting offended. It's very clearly marked Christian, so hopefully anyone who gets offended by religion will just not click on it. If it does get bashed, though, best thing to do is just visit the CF4Christians group some one mentioned above. It's got a weird interface if you ask me, so I don't use it much, but there are lots of great people on there. =-) Take care.

I think it would be cool, but there are about 3 things that don't EVER go over well on the internet. Race, Religion, and Politics.

Thanks for the responce.

I have come to know a family with two children who have CF because they are related to my wife. They are great people and we enjoy spending time with them. They have welcomed me into their family and their hearts which is something I have really never experienced and for this I am grateful. I would never say it to them but I hope they know.

I have watched them struggle with decisions and have talk with as well as given them my opinion as well as my prayers. ((sometimes im over opinionated )) I didnt really know that much about CF until I met them. Her daughter was 4 maybe 5 and her son was 6 when I met them. For a long time I could not really enjoy the kids because I was so worried about them , Every time her daughter aka Mermaid would cough or get sick we would freak. Her son has seen healthier times but still has his own health issues. The first time she ever swam under the water was with me, I was shocked that she did it and so was everyone else.

I worry about Mermaid because she has for some reason decided that she doesn't have to do her chest pt or eat, or take the medications without being forced to do it. She is now 13 and very small. It is a hard thing for kids to be bound to health by machines, and antibiotics and for a while I really didn't understand. Why wouldn't you want to do the excercises and take the meds, but then no kid should have to. We fear that she has given up and worry about her each and every day. I don't think Mermaid knows how much of an impact she has had on everyone. And expectations are high, and I understand she gets stressed but when they can't do it for themselves then you have to push, and not let them give up.

So Keep my friends in your prayers and im sure you will hear more about them in the weeks and months to come. I hope that people will keep this post positive and will share you your own experiences with us. I think that when you repeat something positive or negative you give it power, so lets pray for health and healing and understanding if that is not the path choosen for our loved ones as well as yours.

Yes I believe in God and I have witnessed him working in my life,I have watched my child come back from deaths door to be with us. Life has value and IN MY OPINION without faith in a higher power and creation life loses its worth and its meaning. I have a very hard time ever thinking that when you die you are no more than the ground you are put into . We are part of something greater than ourselves and to deny that IN MY OPINION is not something I am willing to do.

Welcome Samuel!!

There are many people on this board that belive in religion and many who do not. Perhaps the administrator can add a Specific Link for CF and religion/prayer. They have one for non CF related things so maybe one more link can be added. That way no one will be offended.

Sincerely,

Hey just wanted to say something really quick about those of you who are worried you will offend us non-believers. I personally, don't care, as long as no one's pushing their religion on me. This is a thread for religious purposes only, says so right in the name. So I think it's fine to have it here. You warned us ahead of time. So anyone that comes into this thread and is then offended... their own fault.

I don't think that it should/will pose a problem as you started your own topic, which clearly states christian suppport and prayer. As long as the discussion of religion stays within the topics you create, I can't see how it would be a problem. I think where most people get worked up, myself included, is when it feels like its being shoved down our throats.

So good to have you here SamIam!! It sounds like you really love and care for mermaid and her family. That is wonderful. I have Cf myself and like you, I have saw the power of prayer at work in mine and others lives. I love the idea!! I am so excited <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I say you are right on target with that SamIam! One of the most wonderful aspects of God is His never changing love for us. Knowing that He loves and cares for me and is bringing me through each day has helped me make it with CF. I know that I cannot do it on my own, thats where Phil 4:13 comes in: "I can do all things thru Christ which strenghtens me." It doesnt say "some" things or "most" things, it specifically says "ALL" things.

The family you speak of sounds much like a family I have come acquainted with. Again, God, through prayer I believe has brought me in contact with this family and it has been such a blessing to talk with, encourage, share, listen, pray with, and just let God use us to minister to one another. I hope that God continues to allow our friendship to grow, and I hope that He will continue use me to encourage a new friend with CF. Thank you for beginning this thread SamIam.

Sincerely,

I went through that stage, too, what mermaid is doing. In fact a lot of people have. She'll start doing treatments and such on her own again I think. In the meantime, as long as she has someone who cares enough to force her into keeping herself healthy, things should be okay. =-) And I will be sure to pray for it. =-)
