You know Shannon, you may want to consider including a "save the date" card in your christmas cards this year to let people know you will be participating in Great Strides. Some people like to make their final tax deductiible donations for the year, others feel strapped around Christmas time. Perhaps you could let people know you will be sending out fundraising info in the spring, but your team is already established and raising money now for those who want the deduction in 2007. (This would provide you the reason to send out educational information as well as not lose out on possible donations.) The thing with sending people right to CFF.org to donate directly is that if they start doing that you are going to lose your contacts for personal events/walks that you want to do. ie. We have a friend who donated to the CFF website because of Andrew. Once he was on their mailing list, he recieved requests from the national office every couple of months like we do. I then felt that it was too much to also ask him to donate to our personal events. My husband and I donate to local events as well as the mailings from the national office, but we like to keep our family and friends involved solely in the local events we choose to participate in. Does this make any sense?
Long storty short...keep your contacts to yourself! Build your Great Strides team before you send people to CFF.org.
