So I'm in the hospital with pneumonia and have been having chest pain that gets worse with bad coughing fits, trying to lay down, physical exertion, etc. Anyway the docs say it could either be air trapped in a part of my lung that i "don't use" anymore or pleursy. They said it may get better overtime and with the iv meds I'm on or it may never go away. Needless to say I was kinda bummed when I heard that because I've never had this happen before and honestly can't imagine dealing with this everyday. Anyone have this currently/previously? Just looking for other people's experiences.

I've had pleurisy before and it usually happens when I have an infection. Hurts like crazy especially when you breath (which just happens to be all the time).
Usually my pain subsides after I've been on the antibiotics for a bit. Don't recall exactly how many days etc but it always has gotten better for me. Hoping the same for you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
In the meantime get some pain meds on board so you can continue to do your vest, cough, etc.

hi, I also have had bad pain in parts of my lungs at times. I actually thought I broke a rib. It turned out to be an infection that caused pain. The pain sometimes lasted a long time. It usually cleared up when I was treated with IV antibiotics. Best of luck...through the years I have had alllll sorts of funky stuff happen with these lungs of mine.
