How many of you have used cipro and bactrim together and what are the doses? I'm currently trying to control a mild infection with 2 bactrim pills and 1 cipro daily.

Bactrim doses are normally twice a day. I do not know what strength you have though. More importantly no matter what strength Cipro you have it is at least twice a day and sometimes three. Neither of these drugs are the drug of choice for a "cold" and would recommend you take the correct doses or not at all. The bactrim dosen't concern me as it dosen't kill pseudomonas anyway, but you don't want to become resistant to cipro.

I don't take Bactrim anymore just Cipro, but oh man when I did take bactrim it was the liquid kind and it was horrible. I was on it for so long and my new doctor said to me why have you been on this for years and I explained my other doctor said it as he best thing and I guess that was wrong, so my doc took me off of it thank god.

My daughter is not an adult (in fact, only a baby) but she had a course of Cipro and Bactrim together. It did quite a number to her stomach (and stools!). I would recommend a lot of yogurt to give your body back some of the good bacteria.

Usually when I am on Cipro or IV meds I also take lactobacillus (sp). It gives you back your good bacteria. They are hard to swallow but helps with your bowels. They don't tend to be so loose.

Also the two I take are for yeast issues (though the former is also good for digestion, as it's one of the active things in yogurt, like Maria said) are acidophilus and AZO yeast. Both over the counter.

I'm on both now, I have been for a while. I take Bactrum twice a day and Cipro twice a day-it's not a bad combo.

I used to have Bactrim and cipro together - Cipro side affects suck (fuzzy brain bog and dry mouth etc etc) but worked! I haven't been given Bactrim for 10 or so years now though (29 now)

Excuse my ignorance here, but what is Bactrim prescribed for? Someone said it doesn't fight pseudomonas, so I wonder what it is supposed to do? I've never been prescribed Bactrim before and wonder if I should request it?

My daughter was on double-strength bactrim 2X/day and keflex 4X/day for many years. No one completely understood why it helped her so much, but it did. We all suspected it had something to do with controlling her never-ending sinus infections, but who knows. She was finally switched over to daily zithromax. When she takes cipro, she really suffers from GI symptoms.

My daughter was put on Bactrim after she cultured Stenotrophomonas. She really had some problems with it (digestive).
