I cant eat, cant sleep...dont want to do anything. I have so much anxiety right now, I dont even know if I can go to work. I couldnt even sleep in my house by myself. My parents are away for a few days and I had to call my Nana. I feel like such a baby.

Has anyone else every had this issue? Please comiserate and tell me I am not the only one. I feel like a crazy person and I know I am not usually like that...I am calling the doctor to see what they can do to help

I'm pretty sure Avelox & Cipro were responsible for some sudden bouts of anxiety I had a while back. After several rounds of the ab and going from normal to feeling like my chest and head were bursting with nerves, I connected the two things. I tried to use other abs to avoid the anxiety, but would only get a little better on them. So like any other side effect, I just accept it.

HOWEVER, it really helped for me to cut out all caffeine while on this class of abs.

If you read the fine print on Cipro and then look at some medical studies which you can google, Cipro may keep caffeine from passing through your body...i.e. it stays and pings your brain over and over. Thus, nutty feeling.

I hope this helps. The other thing I did was call friends if I felt myself spiraling out of control. Eventually, I got a script for a valium-like pill "Lorazapam". I have taken one pill--to test my reaction--but knowing I have it is enough to make me feel okay.

Omg...I am sooo glad I am not the only one! Not that I am glad others have had to endure it. It sucks because my Dr. said those abx would be best for what my last culture showed. But he said I could change them anyway...which it was either that or take nothing. I had suggested when I left the msg that he give me something for the anxiety since the cipro was doing me a good job for a few days at least.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I am feeling much better today. Even though I didnt sleep much last night and am realing from those effects...the anxiety is much better.

Chalk me up as another who goes batty on this combo. I get nauseous, anxious, lose my appetite and struggle to sleep. As i'm usually on the two together i'm not entirely certain which drug does what to me. But i think i have worked out that Cipro makes me anxious, while Double Strength Bactrim (Cotrimoxazole) makes me nauseus and puts me off my food.
I always have Lorazepam in my bag to at least put my mind at rest, so that if i do get massively anxious i can do something about it. They work really well for me when i'm having an anxiety attack.
